چکیده

We introduce techniques to analyze unitary operations in terms of quadratic form expansions, a form similar to a sum over paths in the computational basis when the phase contributed by each path is described by a quadratic form over R. We show how to relate such a form to an entangled resource akin to that of the one-way measurement model of quantum computing. Using this, we describe various conditions under which it is possible to efficiently implement a unitary operation U , either when provided a quadratic form expansion for U as input, or by finding a quadratic form expansion for U from other input data.

On the real quadratic fields with certain continued fraction expansions and fundamental units

The purpose of this paper is to investigate the real quadratic number fields $Q(sqrt{d})$ which contain the specific form of the continued fractions expansions of integral basis element  where $dequiv 2,3( mod  4)$ is a square free positive integer. Besides, the present paper deals with determining the fundamental unit$$epsilon _{d}=left(t_d+u_dsqrt{d}right) 2left.right > 1$$and  $n_d$ and $m_d...

Asymptotic Expansions for the Distribution of Quadratic Forms in Normal Variables

Higher order asymptotic expansions for the distribution of quadratic forms in normal variables are obtained. The Cornish-Fisher inverse expansions for the percentiles of the distribution are also given. The tesulting formula for a definite quadratic form guarantees accuracy almost up to fourth decimal place if the distribution is not very skew. The normalizing transformation investigated by Jen...

Closed Form Continued Fraction Expansions of Special Quadratic Irrationals

We explore methods for determining the underlying structure of certain classes of continued fractions . The goal is to develop closed form expressions for the continued fractions of many quadratic irrationals. Consider a finite difference equation satisfying: • Gn+1 = anGn + bnGn−1. • an = m, and bn = l for all n, where m, l ∈ N note: m = l = 1 gives the Fibonacci numbers. Let Gn denote the n t...

Nonadjacent Radix-τ Expansions of Integers in Euclidean Imaginary Quadratic Number Fields

In the seminal papers [6, 7], Koblitz curves were proposed for cryptographic use. For fast operations on these curves, these papers also initiated a study of the radix-τ expansion of integers in the number fields Q( √ −3) and Q( √ −7). The (window) nonadjacent form of τ -expansion of integers in Q( √ −7) was first investigated in [11]. For integers in Q( √ −3), the nonadjacent form and the wind...

Daniel KRENN Digit Expansions with Applications in Cryptography

Efficient scalar multiplication in Abelian groups (which is an important operation in public key cryptography) can be performed using digit expansions. Apart from rational integer bases (double-and-add algorithm), imaginary quadratic integer bases are of interest for elliptic curve cryptography, because the Frobenius endomorphism fulfils a quadratic equation. One strategy for improving the effi...
